I loved reading these classic Sherlock Holmes stories. The writing still holds up! This is why they are making a new movie, staring Robert Downey, Jr. Because they’re great mysteries by a great writer.

Linked table of contents and formatting looked and worked great on my Kindle and also on my iPod Touch.

I personally didn’t find any typos or formatting errors (just some words are with the proper british spellings) and I enjoyed reading every single story in this collection.

A great read and an awesome value for under a dollar…

I had just read Ms. Beattie’s famous/infamous “Codependent No More” and was inspired by her revolutionary ideas: I didn’t have to depend on others for approval; I didn’t have to base my self-worth on how helpful I was to friends; I didn’t have to over-react to everything that happened in my life; I didn’t have to think negatively about myself; if I didn’t cause the problem then it wasn’t my responsibility to fix it.
As a teenager about to enter the “real world,” it seemed all I heard from others was what I was “not” doing right. I should know more than I did and be more grateful for what I have; what college did I want to attend? Why wasn’t I more ambitious? What’s more, I was odd for being frightened by the fact that the world as I knew it was about to fall apart when all my friends moved away to college. Raised among drug addicts and alcoholics, it had been a difficult life thus far. And apparently, if what teachers told me was any indication, it would only get more difficult as I took on the responsibilities of being an adult. Melody’s book gave me something that I so desperately needed and could find nowhere else: compassion.
“Codependent No More” was so comforting that I wanted to “live” in its pages. I felt I had entered a new world, and I didn’t want to leave. I wanted a way to remember everything I had learned from Melody Beattie about “owning my power” and being compassionate with myself. I wanted a way to “stay on track.” I wanted a “guide,” something of a daily ritual to keep myself mindful of the liberation she had introduced me to. To that end, I sent Melody Beattie a letter thanking her for her work and asking if she knew anything about “Codependents Anonymous” groups. I was honored to receive a reply, and she directed me to the national headquarters for CoDA. I began to go to the meetings at the now closed “Journey’s Bookstore” in Beaverton, Oregon, and that is where I found this book, “The Language of Letting Go”. These meditations helped keep me focused on what I had learned, and the meetings allowed me to share what I had learned. And this all enabled me to do what I had wanted: “live” in the pages of Melody’s compassion.
Melody is a poet. These meditations are not “scientific” or technical, and they are not even really “meditations” per se – they are more daily reminders, notes from Melody, on how to find happiness within oneself, and how to be compassionate with oneself when such happiness seems impossible. There is no “fancy” language that will necessitate a dictionary, and no unattainable goals are suggested. There are no come-ons to suggest that your life will not be complete unless you buy her other books. These meditations feel like letters from a friend, a friend who enjoys her life and is happy to share her personal insights and situations she has learned from; that is one of the most enjoyable things about this book, the personal stories Melody shares. There is no “finger pointing” in this book. I very faithfully read one meditation per day during the remainder of my last year of High School, and it made life bearable and gave me hope that things would get better (they did). The underlying message of this book could be: breathe, smile, relax, let go.
If you are looking for a structured way to practice what you have learned from Melody’s other books, I would recommend these meditations.

Vampire Academy sets up one of the most fascinating worlds I have come across in very long time.Richelle Mead’s vision of vampires is fresh and intriguing.The story is well written with a gripping plot and characters that are both realistic and real.Not only do I feel as though I an starting to know these people and their world, I also find myself actually caring about what happens to them.

The novel is indeed darker than the average YA offering.But it is in no way traumatizing or depressing.It is simply placed in a world that is grittier and more dangerous than that of most people.It still covers common themes from high school.While not worrying about life and death, the leads still have to contend with attacks on their reputations and decisions of which is more important, staying good with the popular crowd or being true to your heart.

This new universe has seized my imagination and I am more than eager to see the next installment of this series.

First Time I have ever written a review, But i saw the 2 poor reviews this book got earlier
and just had to do it.Dorsey is oneof those writers You either love or hate. Yes, His
Serge Storm Novels are a little Disjointed, And seem hard to follow, Suggestion:
Don’t Try, Just dive in and you will have the time of your life if You like really
wild, Irreverent Humor. I actually purchased the Book, Brfore I got a kindle, I have
Every single one in the series.

Take a chance, If you find yourself laughing crazily as you get into it, You’ll
be glad theres about 9 more in the series.

Definitely not for the reader who wants the usual Sraight Laced Mystery, Not much plot
but a lot of fun.

What can I say? I LOVED this book. If you are a fellow comedy nerd that enjoys the likes of David and Amy Sedaris, Paul F. Tompkins, and John Hodgman, you will not be disappointed. When I first picked up my wife’s reviewer’s copy I expected an entertaining bit of chick lit, and ended up stumbling upon my favorite memoir set in the time that I went to high school and college. It was like getting a chance to peek through the diaries of the girls I dated in my teens and twenties (albeit much funnier, wiser, and insightful).

I recommend that any guy who reads this review buy a copy for the special lady in your life for Valentine’s Day (unless, perhaps, that lady happens to be your mom).

I look forward to hearing and reading more from Julie in the years to come.

Very nice hardback book with lots of stunning pictures of what else?Star Wars Legos!

We are big fans of Legos in general and this book did not disappoint.It came with a bonus Luke Skywalker mini-figure.As with all DK books, you get great pictures, thorough descriptions, and just a generally enjoyable book to collect or read.

I bought 2 copies of this book, one to read, and one to collect.

The only thing that bothered me a (very tiny) little bit was how the Luke Skywalker mini-fig was packaged.At first glance it looks like a much thicker book, but about half of the thickness is a spacer placed inside the book to make room for the mini-fig, so it lays flush with the front cover.I posted some pictures on the main item page if you want to see what I mean.Nothing that I would knock a star off for though.

Overall, we are VERY happy with this book.Great price for a quality book that will not disappoint young and old!

Children naturally are interested in understanding a parent’s perspective on the family.Mr. and Mrs. Mallard’s search for a safe home for their future family makes a wonderful story for children and parents to exploreand understand more about parental love.Although the book has a 4-8 agereading level, younger children enjoy having it read to them (based on theexperiences of my four children).The illustrations are terrific and drawthe child’s interest very easily.Older children like to reread the storybecause of its comfortable connection to their more youthful years andreinforcement of their sense of being wanted, loved, and belonging.
Tome, the best part of the book is that the locations are actually easy tofind in Boston.So if you live in the Boston area or ever come here, youcan also take your children to experience the story.I know my youngerdaughter thought that her first Swan boat ride in the Public Garden was theultimate moment in her life (up to that point).She kept wanting to knowwhich duck was Mrs. Mallard, and which one was Mr. Mallard.Then shewanted to spot Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack (my favorite name in thebook), Pack, and Quack.I had a ball! There are also statues of Mrs.Mallard and her 8 offspring that the children can touch.There’s also anannual parade that you can participate in.

I have enjoyed reading this storyand reading it to children for almost 30 years.I look forward to readingit to my grandchildren when the time comes.It has also been my favoritebook to give as a gift to new parents.
